The Transfiguration - Lesson 1
Jesus took three of his disciples to the summit of a mountain in northern Israel called the Mount of Transfiguration. There, Jesus was transfigured so that his heavenly glory shined through his earthly body. What makes the Mount of Transfiguration wonderful is that it is the exact opposite of Mount Calvary. On Mount Calvary, we see Jesus in his suffering. He is stripped naked to his shame and crucified between two thieves. But on the Mount of Transfiguration, Jesus appears in all his glory. His clothing begins to shine radiantly, and he stands between the two great prophets, Moses and Elijah! Learn how the glory of Jesus at the Transfiguration was a preview of Jesus in his resurrection glory!
